McBride Homes Appoints Jake Eilermann as Chief Executive Officer
October 2, 2023
ST. LOUIS, October 2, 2023 - McBride Homes, Missouri’s largest homebuilder, announced today that Jake Eilermann has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
This leadership change follows the decision by John F. Eilermann, Jr. to turn over the role as Chief Executive Officer of the company. He will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board at McBride Homes.
“It has been a tremendous honor to serve as CEO of McBride Homes over the past 18 years and I’m incredibly proud of our growth as we became St. Louis’ dominant homebuilder and one of the nation’s top builders,” said John. “I am very confident that Jake is the right person to build on this momentum. He is a true leader with exceptional dedication and vision.”
John has worked at McBride for 37 years and started as an Estimator for the local builder. When he was appointed President in 1993, McBride was the 3rd largest builder in St. Louis and built 272 homes. John became CEO in 2005 and grew the company into St. Louis’ largest home builder with 19.3% market share and 893 closings in 2022. McBride is now ranked as the 37th largest private builder in the country and is the 68th largest overall residential builder.
With today’s announcement of the transition, Jake will be only the 5th CEO in the company’s 77 year history.
“McBride has always been a very family-oriented business and throughout the years I have been involved in all aspects of this company,” said Jake Eilermann. “As I step into this role, I am thankful for the support of our leadership team and all of our employees. They are the key reason for our continued success and dominance.”
Jake Eilermann joined McBride Homes as the Manager of Architecture in 2016. Within the year, Jake was promoted to Vice President of Architecture, Purchasing, and the Design Studio, which Jake helped conceptualize and design. In 2019, Jake was promoted to President and has since lead the company’s day-to-day operations. Jake will also remain President at McBride Homes with his new title of CEO.
“Over the years, Jake has focused on taking decisive actions to transform our performance at McBride,” stated John. “He has a proven track record with intense focus on process, technology, and talent development. He also brings a wealth of experience to the role and has played an integral part in the growth and innovation of our company, including the success of our world-class Design Studio.”
McBride's Design Studio, a $4 million homebuyer selection center located in Chesterfield Valley, provides a one-of-a-kind customer experience for their 900+ home buyers each year. At 10,000 square feet, this is the largest Design Studio in the Midwest and is both locally and nationally recognized (St. Louis Business Journal Building St. Louis Awards finalist, Silver Award for The Nationals’ Best Design Center from the National Association of Home Builders, and IIDA RMC Best Award – Best Retail). The endeavor completely changed McBride's business model by increasing gross profit, while enhancing McBride’s goal of a world-class experience for their customers.
Jake also spearheaded the conceptualization and construction of the company’s new corporate headquarters. The 13,000 square foot office sits adjacent to their Design Studio and was completed in 2021. This past year, McBride was awarded a Best Places to Work award from the St. Louis Business Journal.
“Today's announcement recognizes the significant contribution that Jake has brought to McBride Homes,” stated John Eilermann. “He has been directing our company in all facets for the past four years and we are fortunate to have someone of Jake’s caliber and experience step up to lead McBride.”
The company believes that Jake’s operational and communication skills, combined with his strong leadership abilities, will help the company deliver improved production and financial performance.
“We are at a critical moment with the current housing market and Jake is the right person to successfully implement McBride’s strategy and take advantage of the market opportunities ahead,” stated John. “Jake is a visionary with a proven track record of execution. He is also a strong communicator who is customer-focused with deep leadership capabilities.”
John added, "I am grateful to be able to partner with my son and look forward to watching him take McBride to the next level.”
Jake graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Master of Architecture, Master of Science Civil Engineering: Construction Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies. After school, Jake worked for a boutique architecture firm called VOA Associates in Chicago, Illinois, before returning to St. Louis to work for McBride.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this team into the next chapter and build on the company’s strong foundations,” said Jake. “Along with the leadership team, we will further develop our high-performing homebuilding operations and continue our growth as St. Louis’ leading hometown homebuilder.”
